BEING A PRODUCER
My Journey into Producing:
A Serendipitous Adventure
WHY I’VE BECOME A PRODUCER
Truthfully, I fell into producing. It began when a group of 20 passionate actors (myself included), decided we wanted to start creating our own shows and touring around the world.

The idea was thrilling, the issue was that as a group of actors, no one was taking the initiative to make it happen. So, I took action.

Initially, my intention was simply to propel our collective dream forward, but as I delved deeper into the world of producing, I discovered something unexpected. Producing wasn't just a means to an end; it became an addiction, a passion I needed to keep up with, and even more thrilling than acting.
For several years, we enjoyed creating and touring our shows, a highlight being our appearances at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The experiences were unreal, but over time the dynamics within our group shifted and we drifted apart. What remained was a profound love and fascination with the art of film that I felt compelled to explore further.

This led me to a pivotal moment in my journey: joining Nexus as a volunteer coordinator and host. Nexus was unlike anything I had experienced in my professional career; it was a place of growth, empowerment, and learning. Through my work at Nexus I gained invaluable skills and knowledge while forging incredible connections that continue to enrich my life today
The turning point in my producing career came when my favourite comedy troupe approached me to produce their first short film. This opportunity was a game-changer; it allowed me to combine my passion for comedy and film with my newfound expertise in producing.

I look forward to embracing the challenges and joys that the future holds as I continue to grow as a producer and storyteller. My path into producing may have started by chance, but has evolved into a fulfilling career that I am excited to continue.
